In September 2026, the Ancora Quartet will present a program spanning Classical elegance, Romantic passion, and early 20th-century French refinement. The ensemble will perform Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in E minor, Op. 44 No. 2; Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 76 No. 6; and Germaine Tailleferre’s String Quartet.

Mendelssohn’s Op. 44 No. 2 offers lyrical intensity and dramatic contrast, while Haydn’s late Op. 76 No. 6 showcases the composer’s wit, invention, and structural mastery. Completing the program is Tailleferre’s sole string quartet (1919), a concise and colorful work by the only female member of Les Six, dedicated to pianist Arthur Rubinstein and noted for its refined lyricism and rhythmic vitality.
